Chantelle created this piece in dedication to AfroPark.
Chantelle uses the women’s complexions to tell her story and express her state of mind and emotions- reflecting on the past, being in the present, and her thoughts about the future.
The past - Chantelle utilises similar styles to some of her initial pieces by using brown for the complexion of one of the women.
The present - Chantelle reflects her current line of creations by using a deep orange for the complexion of the woman in the centre.
The future - After creating multiple pieces empowering black women through large portraits and powerful colours, Chantelle is deciding what to portray next. The grey complexion of the third woman signifies this uncertainty while she explores her next concept.
